Job description
The Software/Firmware Engineer will join Apple's Platform Architecture team to bridge hardware and software, focusing on prototyping and developing integrated systems. This role involves working closely with cross-functional engineering teams to create innovative tools and seamless user experiences. The engineer will be responsible for developing code for macOS, iOS, and micro-controllers while investigating new technologies. A strong emphasis is placed on hardware/software integration and initiative in driving projects forward.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Electrical Engineering.
- Experience with embedded software and firmware design and implementation.
- Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Electrical Engineering with 10 years of relevant industry experience.
- Excellent programming skills with knowledge of C and object-oriented programming practices.
- Experience with micro-controllers and development environments.
- Development experience on Unix, Linux, or macOS.
- Ability to read serial bus traces and board schematics, and use an oscilloscope and logic analyzer.
- Experience with board bring up and digital hardware.
- Familiarity with ARM, RISCV, USB, I2C, SPI, scripting languages such as Bash, Python, Lua, and Git.
- Experience with Objective-C, Swift, and macOS driver development is a plus.
Responsibilities
