Job description

The Maps Client Quality Engineering Intelligence team at Apple Maps is focused on applying AI to enhance quality engineering workflows. This role involves identifying opportunities for AI solutions in test planning, automation, and analytics, while building platforms to support these initiatives. The engineer will work closely with QE leads and SDETs to solve problems and improve processes. A strong emphasis is placed on collaboration, innovation, and delivering high-quality solutions.

Requirements

  • Strong Python skills with experience in building backend services, data pipelines, or APIs.
  • Experience with web technologies such as TypeScript, React/Next.js, or similar frameworks.
  • Proven ability to ship features end-to-end from requirements to deployment and monitoring.
  • Solid understanding of REST API design, microservices architecture, and CI/CD.
  • Foundational understanding of AI concepts including LLMs, agents, and prompt engineering.
  • Hands-on experience deploying AI/ML in production settings.
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or equivalent with 3-6 years of industry experience.

Responsibilities

  • Identify opportunities to apply AI solutions across quality engineering workflows.
  • Build platforms that deliver AI solutions for test planning, automation, and reporting.
  • Collaborate with QE leads to define test strategies and with SDETs to build automation foundations.
  • Evaluate new AI techniques and prototype quickly to stay ahead in the evolving landscape.
  • Contribute to the development of clean, reusable tools and improve platform evolution.
  • Partner with QE or automation engineers to define tooling needs and architect solutions.
