Job description

The Identity Management Services (IdMS) SRE team at Apple is looking for a Service Reliability Engineer (SRE) to design and support critical platform services. This role requires strong software development skills and a deep understanding of SRE principles to ensure operational precision at Apple's scale. The SRE will manage one of the largest Identity Management Platform services, focusing on high availability and reliability for authentication and authorization transactions. The position also involves maintaining platform security and driving automation solutions for large-scale service needs.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in Site Reliability Engineering with a strong focus on building, scaling, and operating large-scale distributed platform services.
  • BS degree in computer science or equivalent field with 7+ years of experience or MS degree in computer science or equivalent field with 5+ years of experience.
  • Strong technical grasp and experience working on Open Source technologies designed for large-scale data processing.
  • Proficiency in at least one programming or scripting language such as Python, Java, Go, Bash, or Ansible.
  • Experience designing observability stacks using tools like Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog, OpenTelemetry, or ELK.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee critical services such as device provisioning, authentication, token management, and security.
  • Ensure the high availability and reliability of the system for critical transactions and account lifecycle management.
  • Maintain platform security by blocking and rate-limiting fraud traffic.
  • Drive incident management for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Define system and functional observability to improve efficiency.
  • Investigate device-related issues by debugging relevant logs.
  • Manage the full system lifecycle, including configuration and code deployment.
