The video standards engineer will be part of Apple's Multimedia Engineering team, focusing on representing Apple in international standards bodies such as AOM, ITU, and MPEG. This role involves investigating and developing new media technologies while collaborating with other teams within Apple. The engineer will provide analysis on ongoing standards, propose initiatives, and engage with various organizations for standardization. The position requires travel and a strong background in video compression and multimedia standards.

• M.S. or higher in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science with a focus on software engineering or signal processing.
• Knowledgeable in video compression and the multimedia field, including 3D visual information coding.
• Good knowledge of the development of international standards related to video and multimedia compression.
• Experience with sophisticated video compression technologies such as MPEG-4 AVC, HEVC, VVC, or AOMedia's AV1 and AV2.
• Familiarity with software development tools including Xcode and Git.
• Proficient in practical software development and able to contribute to large codebases in C or C++.
