Job description

The iPad Product Design Team at Apple operates in a dynamic environment, focusing on delivering exceptional products that surprise and delight customers. This role involves utilizing mechanical design engineering skills to bring products to market while collaborating with various departments. The team values fairness and diversity, encouraging contributions from all employees. Candidates will work alongside talented engineers and technology experts to create impactful designs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
  • 3+ years experience designing mechanical components for high volume manufacturing, specifically injection molded parts, sheet metal components, die-cast and machined parts.
  • Ability to travel up to 15-20% max throughout the year.
  • Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent is a plus.
  • High degree of motivation, curiosity, passion and creativity.

Responsibilities

  • Negotiate and collaborate cross-functionally with various departments to refine and execute the product vision.
  • Develop deep technical knowledge in areas outside your realm of expertise to understand design constraints.
  • Collaborate with outside vendors and internal manufacturing experts to optimize designs for function, aesthetic, and manufacturability.
  • Utilize 2D and 3D CAD to communicate design intent and inspection requirements.
  • Ensure fit, form, and function throughout the life of the product through various analyses and testing.

Benefits

  • Employees at Apple are often offered comprehensive benefits that support physical and mental well-being—flexible medical plans, confidential counseling, onsite wellness centers at major campuses, and resources for fitness and daily life. Families typically receive fertility support, paid parental leave with gradual return, caregiving leave, and dependent-care guidance, while financial perks commonly include stock grants (with purchase discounts), 401(k) matching, and income-protection coverage. Employees also see robust time off, Apple University learning and tuition reimbursement, donation matching and paid volunteer hours, and deep product and partner discounts.
