JobsMachine Learning FEA Engineer
Job description
This role is part of the Product Design FEA team, focusing on developing innovative machine learning technologies to enhance product designs for Apple devices. The position emphasizes the integration of predictive finite element simulations with machine learning to optimize design processes. As a core member, you will engage in rapid design iterations and assess potential risks. Your contributions will directly impact the success of future products like the iPhone, iPad, and Apple Watch.
Requirements
- Strong expertise in machine learning, deep learning, and optimization.
- Knowledge of finite element analysis and numerical methods in computational physics and mechanics.
- Proficiency in Python and relevant packages for machine learning.
- A Master's degree in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Mechanical Engineering, or a similar discipline with 3+ years of relevant experience.
- Strong expertise in GNNs, CNNs, and transformer-based architectures.
- A Ph.D. in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Mechanical Engineering, or a similar discipline is preferred.
- Publications in top journals or conferences are a plus.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement ground-breaking machine learning methods based on predictive finite element simulations.
- Drive rapid design iterations by assessing potential risks and optimizing design trade-offs.
- Collaborate closely with the product design team from the earliest stages of product development.
- Implement and optimize machine learning models for large-scale datasets on scalable ML platforms.
- Work independently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining excellent cross-functional collaboration.
Benefits
- Employees at Apple are often offered comprehensive benefits that support physical and mental well-being—flexible medical plans, confidential counseling, onsite wellness centers at major campuses, and resources for fitness and daily life. Families typically receive fertility support, paid parental leave with gradual return, caregiving leave, and dependent-care guidance, while financial perks commonly include stock grants (with purchase discounts), 401(k) matching, and income-protection coverage. Employees also see robust time off, Apple University learning and tuition reimbursement, donation matching and paid volunteer hours, and deep product and partner discounts.
