Job description

The Principal Software Engineer will be part of the AI Frameworks team at Microsoft, focusing on advancing AI technology through innovative software development. This team is responsible for bridging the gap between state-of-the-art AI models and hardware ecosystems, enabling AI models to run across various platforms. The role involves technical leadership, mentoring, and collaboration with stakeholders to enhance machine learning performance and experience. The engineer will contribute to projects like ONNX and Foundry Local, impacting major Microsoft products.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 6+ years of technical engineering experience with coding in languages including C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR equivalent experience.
  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with appropriate stakeholders to determine user requirements for complex scenarios.
  • Provide technical leadership for the identification of dependencies and the development of design documents.
  • Lead by example and mentor others to produce extensible and maintainable code.
  • Leverage deep subject-matter expertise to lead multiple product project plans and release plans.
  • Hold accountability as a Designated Responsible Individual (DRI) and monitor system/product/service for degradation.
  • Proactively seek new knowledge and adapt to new trends and technical solutions.
