Job description
The role is for a senior Swift engineer at Claris, an Apple company, focused on building an on-device AI pipeline for macOS. Requirements
- B.S. in Computer Science or equivalent software engineering experience
- 7-10+ years of software engineering experience with Swift
- Experience shipping macOS desktop software (not iOS-only)
- Strong understanding of Swift concurrency including actors, async/await, and structured concurrency
- Experience working within layered, modular architectures with strict dependency management
- Familiarity with Apple Foundation Models and on-device ML frameworks
- Experience building or integrating with MCP or similar tool-use frameworks
- Experience with deterministic data systems using Swift
- Experience building production SwiftUI applications with AppKit interop
- Experience with SPM multi-target architectures and strict layered dependency enforcement
- Experience with macOS system services including process lifecycle management and code signing
- Experience with actor-based concurrency patterns and data race prevention
- Solid understanding of CI/CD pipelines and test automation
- Experience working collaboratively on small, senior teams
Responsibilities
- Build the native macOS platform that integrates AI-powered insights for knowledge workers
- Develop an on-device AI pipeline with a multi-stage architecture
- Work on platform integrations and enterprise connectors based on team strengths
- Ensure the software protects customer data and maintains critical system operations
- Take ownership of technical surfaces and prioritize user experience
- Collaborate with team members to ensure clear communication and shared accountability
