Job description

The Sensing Product Design team at Apple is seeking a talented mechanical engineer to develop innovative sensing technologies for Apple products. This role involves end-to-end design, development, and validation of sensing technology, contributing to products that enhance user interaction. The engineer will collaborate with a multifunctional team and support external manufacturing vendors during prototyping and validation phases. Requirements

  • BS in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
  • A minimum of 3 years of relevant industry experience
  • Solid understanding of mechanical engineering fundamentals including properties of materials, solid mechanics, beam statics, Newtonian physics, and thermodynamics
  • 3D CAD experience is required
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to craft clear engineering documentation
  • Ability to effectively collaborate with diverse team members and external vendors to achieve project goals
  • High volume, consumer electronics or sensing experience is a plus
  • Hands-on experience designing for a production environment is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Own the end-to-end design, development, and validation of sensing technology into Apple's portfolio of products
  • Work with a talented multifunctional team to generate design concepts
  • Conduct engineering analysis and documentation for assigned project components
  • Support external manufacturing vendors with process development and root cause analysis during testing
  • Travel internationally between 15% and 25% to support vendors
