Job description
The Software Integrity Engineer role within the Photos QE team focuses on ensuring high-quality standards for the Photos app across Apple's platforms. This position involves collaborating with engineering and quality teams to enhance user experiences through comprehensive testing strategies. The ideal candidate will have a passion for quality and photography, taking ownership of their work while utilizing modern tools and practices. The role requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and effective communication.
Requirements
- 2-3 years of professional experience in software quality engineering or consumer software test engineering, utilizing manual and automated methods.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- Strong understanding of QE fundamentals, including test planning, test execution, and bug management.
- Experience working collaboratively with engineering teams.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for effective problem and defect discovery.
- Demonstrated ability to take ownership and drive work independently.
- Ability to balance multiple tasks and meet tight deadlines while keeping to a holistic quality vision.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; comfortable sharing considered opinions and seeking the same from others.
- Experience testing Photos, Camera, or similar digital media applications.
- Experience testing consumer-facing applications on iOS and macOS.
- Strong knowledge of Apple's hardware and software ecosystem.
- Experience with test automation using Python, Swift, XCTest, or similar frameworks.
- Experience with automation within the Apple ecosystem, including Jenkins, remote VM, automation triage, and CI processes.
- Understanding of industry-standard QE practices, including shift-left testing and CI/CD integration.
- Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools such as Claude or GitHub Copilot.
- Track record of proactive ownership and follow-through.
- Enthusiasm for staying current with modern tools, technologies, and best practices.
- Passion for photography and user experience.
- Ability to adapt quickly in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
- Own quality for specific feature areas end to end within the Photos app.
- Collaborate with peers across development and quality teams to ensure robustness of core user experiences.
- Conduct functional, regression, and integration testing across platforms in the Apple ecosystem.
- Independently investigate, triage, escalate, and resolve issues encountered.
- Perform iterative software validation of both existing and new tools and technologies.
- Utilize both manual and automated approaches for testing.
- Leverage modern tools, including AI-assisted development tools and test automation, to enhance productivity.
