Job description

The role involves working as a systems/chip test development engineer within Apple's Silicon Technologies group, focusing on designing and manufacturing next-generation processors and system-on-chip (SoC) solutions. You will be responsible for developing system-level test programs and ensuring the quality and availability of test hardware across various suppliers and factories. This position requires collaboration with multi-disciplinary teams and external partners, primarily in Asia, to address complex challenges in semiconductor manufacturing. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment and possess strong problem-solving skills.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree with 10+ years of experience in semiconductor manufacturing test solutions.
  • Deep understanding of SoC architectures.
  • Knowledge of semiconductor manufacturing processes and electronic engineering fundamentals.
  • Experience in deploying and solving test solutions in manufacturing sites.
  • Proficiency in programming with scripting languages such as Python and Perl, as well as high-level languages like C#/C/C++ or Visual Basic with .NET framework.
  • Expertise in handling and resolving complex problems associated with overseas manufacturing.
  • Knowledge about SoC debug, validation, and test group interface.

Responsibilities

  • Develop system-level test (SLT) programs from new product introduction (NPI) to high volume manufacturing (HVM) for Apple SoCs.
  • Lead the overall deployment of SLT at the OSAT's, collaborating closely with GSM and test engineering teams.
  • Work with internal test teams, product engineering, QA, and product management to diagnose and resolve silicon and hardware issues.
  • Manage suppliers for hardware deliveries related to tool installation and customized system-level test accessories.
  • Support tool qualification activities in collaboration with tool vendors, OSAT, and Apple TE and QA teams, which may involve domestic and international travel.
  • Evaluate new products' testability and operability on the SLT in coordination with internal and external teams.
  • Drive multiple suppliers and contract manufacturers, hosting regular tracking meetings and publishing reports.

Benefits

  • Employees at Apple are often offered comprehensive benefits that support physical and mental well-being—flexible medical plans, confidential counseling, onsite wellness centers at major campuses, and resources for fitness and daily life. Families typically receive fertility support, paid parental leave with gradual return, caregiving leave, and dependent-care guidance, while financial perks commonly include stock grants (with purchase discounts), 401(k) matching, and income-protection coverage. Employees also see robust time off, Apple University learning and tuition reimbursement, donation matching and paid volunteer hours, and deep product and partner discounts.
