Job description

The Systems Engineer role at Apple focuses on integrating hardware and software components to enhance user experiences within Apple Vision products. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Product Design and Electrical Engineering, to ensure that all system requirements are met. The position requires a strong understanding of system-level specifications and the ability to analyze trade-offs to optimize performance. This role is pivotal in delivering groundbreaking experiences that blend digital content with physical spaces.

Requirements

  • MS in a relevant field such as Electrical Engineering, physics, systems engineering, mechatronics, or computer science.
  • 6+ years of work experience in a product-based company, focusing on system engineering or a similar role.
  • Hands-on experience in defining system-level specifications for complex hardware and software components.
  • Strong system-level thinking with the ability to decompose complex architectures into manageable components.
  • Proficiency in analyzing system trade-offs to achieve optimal solutions based on product requirements.
  • Experience in designing specification trees and conducting error budget analyses using statistical methods.
  • Proficiency in system modeling, simulation, and data analysis using tools such as MATLAB or Python.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.

Responsibilities

  • Work with cross-functional partners to assign budgets and make data-driven trade-offs.
  • Collaborate closely with experts from diverse domains to deliver a system that meets all product use case requirements.
  • Conceptualize and propose hardware and software implementation approaches for user-facing features.
  • Define comprehensive specification trees and perform detailed error budget analyses.
  • Analyze system trade-offs including performance, power, thermal, cost, and manufacturability.

Benefits

  • Employees at Apple are often offered comprehensive benefits that support physical and mental well-being—flexible medical plans, confidential counseling, onsite wellness centers at major campuses, and resources for fitness and daily life. Families typically receive fertility support, paid parental leave with gradual return, caregiving leave, and dependent-care guidance, while financial perks commonly include stock grants (with purchase discounts), 401(k) matching, and income-protection coverage. Employees also see robust time off, Apple University learning and tuition reimbursement, donation matching and paid volunteer hours, and deep product and partner discounts.
