Job description

The DevOps/Backend Engineer will join the Product Integrity AI/ML team at Apple, focusing on developing and maintaining infrastructure for AI/ML and Generative AI services. This role involves collaborating with cross-functional partners to integrate and operationalize machine learning models within various services. The engineer will work on challenging projects that support hardware product development, ensuring high visibility and impact across the company. The position requires a passion for building effective solutions and a commitment to fast-paced iteration.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in SRE/DevOps, systems engineering, build/release/deployment, and/or automation.
  • Proficient in implementing applications in private/public cloud infrastructure and container technologies, including Kubernetes and Docker.
  • Experience designing, building, and managing CI/CD pipelines.
  • Experience with networking load balancers such as HAProxy and NGINX.
  • Demonstrated ability to write applications in a high-level programming language like Python, Ruby, or Java.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Experience building scalable, maintainable, robust web services and applications.
  • Ability to architect complex systems in a reusable, modular way.
  • Experience building infrastructure to support Generative AI services, including model integration and evaluation pipelines.
  • Familiarity with MLOps practices such as model versioning and performance monitoring in production environments.
  • Curiosity to learn new technologies and a passion for sharing knowledge with others.
  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and manage the infrastructure that powers services, tools, and applications.
  • Collaborate closely with ML engineering teams to integrate and evaluate models within services.
  • Work on challenging projects incorporating Machine Learning, Generative AI, and MLOps.
  • Ensure the development of effective solutions by iterating quickly and working side-by-side with customers.
  • Provide data insights and drive decision-making within Hardware Engineering and beyond.
