Job description

As a Data Engineer on the Capacity Engineering team at Apple, you will design, build, and operate the data foundation that informs capacity, cost, and power-related decisions across the company's infrastructure. This role involves creating large-scale data pipelines and robust data models to support analytics and internal billing. You will collaborate with various teams to ensure data quality and governance while contributing to the evolution of the data platform stack. This is an opportunity to work on global-scale systems that process petabytes of data.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Information systems, Software Engineering, Data Science or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in data engineering or equivalent practical experience.
  • Hands-on experience with Apache Spark and Airflow or similar workflow/orchestration tools.
  • Experience with cloud technologies, AWS/GCP including services like S3, EMR, Lambda, Glue, RDS/Redshift, Big-query, and Kinesis.
  • Experience with CI/CD tooling such as Jenkins or similar tools.

Responsibilities

  • Architect, implement, and maintain large-scale batch and streaming pipelines for processing infrastructure telemetry.
  • Design and evolve robust data models with a focus on dimensional modeling.
  • Define quality checks, SLAs, and observability to ensure data accuracy and trustworthiness.
  • Integrate and enrich raw signals with metadata to support various use cases.
  • Collaborate closely with data scientists, software engineers, and finance partners to translate requirements into data solutions.
  • Implement standard methodologies for data governance, lineage, and security.
  • Build end-to-end data solutions with strong emphasis on monitoring and continuous improvement.
  • Contribute to the evolution of the data and platform stack, including tooling and frameworks.

Benefits

  • Employees at Apple are often offered comprehensive benefits that support physical and mental well-being—flexible medical plans, confidential counseling, onsite wellness centers at major campuses, and resources for fitness and daily life. Families typically receive fertility support, paid parental leave with gradual return, caregiving leave, and dependent-care guidance, while financial perks commonly include stock grants (with purchase discounts), 401(k) matching, and income-protection coverage. Employees also see robust time off, Apple University learning and tuition reimbursement, donation matching and paid volunteer hours, and deep product and partner discounts.
