Job description

Apple is seeking a Photonics Design Engineer to develop novel integrated photonic devices for breakthrough sensing applications in Apple products. This role involves working within an optical science team and collaborating with a multi-disciplinary group to demonstrate new photonic components and sensor concepts. The engineer will focus on the design, simulation, and characterization of silicon photonic components. This position offers the opportunity to contribute to the next generation of photonic integrated circuits.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Physics, Optics, Electrical Engineering or equivalent fields
  • 3+ years of relevant industry experience
  • Master's or PhD degree in Physics, Optics, Electrical Engineering or equivalent fields
  • Deep understanding of optoelectronics, photonics, and semiconductor devices
  • Extensive design and modeling experiences of passive and active components on SOI platforms
  • Experience in designing MUX/DeMUX components
  • Experience in circuit simulation, high order mode mitigation or polarization management
  • Good understanding of optical measurement techniques and hands-on experience in device characterization
  • Strong programming skills and proficiency in statistical data analysis in Python, Matlab, JMP or similar
