Job description

The Camera Hardware Engineering group at Apple is focused on designing and developing innovative camera hardware for all Apple products. The team is responsible for ensuring that camera modules work seamlessly across devices, from prototype stages to mass production. This role involves building validation and system integration test methodologies to identify and resolve engineering issues early in the design cycle. The engineer will collaborate with various cross-functional partners to influence hardware decisions and enhance user experiences.

Requirements

  • BS degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related field
  • Hands-on experience with EE test equipment such as oscilloscopes, high-speed probes, and function generators
  • 3+ years of relevant work experience
  • Experience with prototype hardware bring-up and debug
  • Experience developing and deploying novel test methodologies
  • Experience automating lab equipment and measurements with Python
  • Experience with statistical analysis and visualization tools such as JMP, Python, or MATLAB
  • Experience with high speed interfaces including MIPI, PCIe, DP, HDMI, and USB
  • Experience with control interfaces such as I2C, SPI, and SPMI
  • Understanding of CMOS image sensor principles and image processing fundamentals
  • Understanding of electrical noise and coupling mechanisms
  • Understanding of system integration grounding and shielding considerations for EMI, EMC, and ESD performance

Responsibilities

  • Build new validation and system integration test methodologies to identify EE issues early in the design cycle.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional partners to debug and resolve camera performance issues.
  • Influence hardware decisions to ensure a flawless user experience.
  • Evaluate camera performance in isolation and in conjunction with other system modules.
  • Define test methodology for camera module prototypes through to mass production ramping.

Benefits

  • Employees at Apple are often offered comprehensive benefits that support physical and mental well-being—flexible medical plans, confidential counseling, onsite wellness centers at major campuses, and resources for fitness and daily life.
