The Media-IP SoC Performance Engineer role at Apple involves collaborating with engineers to design and optimize the architecture of multimedia IPs that are integral to Apple's SoCs. This position focuses on providing data-driven performance insights to enhance customer experience across various Apple products. The role requires a strong understanding of computer architecture and software engineering, as well as expertise in performance model development. The engineer will work closely with cross-functional teams to balance performance, power, and area trade-offs.
Requirements
- B.S. degree in a relevant field.
- Experience in computer architecture and software engineering.
- Experience in C++ object-oriented software development.
- M.S. degree is preferred.
- Strong understanding of SoC architectures including fabrics, memory systems, QoS, arbitration, and queuing theory.
- Experience with performance model development and analysis, including data analytics, statistics, and applied machine learning.
- Expertise in C++ including the latest STL libraries.
- Proficiency in Python, Lua, and shell scripting languages.
- Demonstrated problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to define the architecture of new features.
- Optimize trade-offs between performance, power, and area for Media-IPs.
- Develop and analyze performance models using various data sources.
