Job description

As a CPU Design Timing Engineer at Apple, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the timing closure of CPU projects. You will collaborate with the CAD team and CPU micro-architects to develop and refine timing flows, enhancing analysis efficiency. Your work will involve scripting and debugging to support high-performance CPU designs. This position requires a strong understanding of physical design tools and methodologies, as well as experience with static timing tools.

Requirements

  • Minimum BS degree and 3+ years of relevant industry experience
  • Experience with script writing and debugging in TCL, Perl, or Python
  • Implementation experience on high performance CPU designs
  • Good understanding of CPU microarchitecture and low power implementation techniques
  • Experience working on timing for designs exceeding 1 GHz
  • Familiarity with static timing tools such as Primetime or Tempus

Responsibilities

  • Work with the CAD team to develop the timing flow for the project
  • Script to improve analysis flows and engineer efficiency
  • Collaborate extensively with CPU micro-architects and implementation engineers
  • Drive timing closure for the CPU
  • Analyze and address issues related to cross talk, noise, OCV, uncertainty, and derate methodology
