Job description
As a CPU Design Timing Engineer at Apple, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the timing closure of CPU projects. You will collaborate with various teams, including CAD and implementation engineers, to develop and enhance timing flows. Your expertise will contribute to the efficiency of timing analysis and closure processes. This position requires a strong background in timing for high-performance CPU designs and a deep understanding of microarchitecture.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field and 10+ years of industry experience
- Experience with timing for designs operating at 1 GHz or higher
- Proficiency in static timing tools such as Primetime or Tempus
- Knowledge of cross talk, noise, OCV, uncertainty, and derate methodology
- Experience in script writing and debugging in languages like TCL, Perl, or Python
- Implementation experience on high-performance CPU designs
- Understanding of CPU microarchitecture and low power implementation techniques
- Familiarity with physical design tools and methodologies
Responsibilities
- Work with the CAD team to develop the timing flow for the project.
- Script to improve analysis flows and engineer efficiency.
- Collaborate with CPU micro-architects and implementation engineers to drive timing closure.
- Conduct timing analysis and assist in timing closure processes.
- Ensure compliance with timing requirements across multiple clock and power domains.
