Job description

The Siri team at Apple is focused on developing powerful on-device large language models (LLMs) that operate efficiently across various devices. This full-stack machine learning role involves owning the entire ML stack, from data to deployment, and bridging the gap between research and practical applications. The team values velocity and pragmatism, encouraging engineers to solve complex problems at the intersection of hardware, software, and machine learning. Candidates will have the opportunity to shape the future of personal computing by building intelligent and efficient AI assistants.

Requirements

  • Experience with shipping LLM based products
  • Excellent python engineering skills and knowledge of deep learning frameworks such as Pytorch, Jax, or Tensorflow
  • Machine Learning Research track record or excellent knowledge of Machine Learning State of the Art
  • Masters or PhD in Computer Science, Machine Learning Engineering or equivalent professional experience
  • Knowledge of Natural Language Processing
  • Experience with Small Language Models
  • Experience with Agentic AI

Responsibilities

  • Architect and train LLMs specifically for assistant behavior.
  • Design and implement novel context and adapter strategies to optimize model performance.
  • Own the curation, augmentation, and evaluation pipelines for model development.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional experts to build a cohesive and intelligent system.

Benefits

  • Employees at Apple are often offered comprehensive benefits that support physical and mental well-being—flexible medical plans, confidential counseling, onsite wellness centers at major campuses, and resources for fitness and daily life. Families typically receive fertility support, paid parental leave with gradual return, caregiving leave, and dependent-care guidance, while financial perks commonly include stock grants (with purchase discounts), 401(k) matching, and income-protection coverage. Employees also see robust time off, Apple University learning and tuition reimbursement, donation matching and paid volunteer hours, and deep product and partner discounts.
