Job description

The Materials Characterization Engineer will work within the Advanced Technologies Group - Packaging team at Apple, focusing on the mechanical and material evaluation of Integrated Circuit (IC) packages. This role involves pioneering new characterization methodologies and evaluating advanced packaging materials. The engineer will address complex yield and reliability challenges to uphold Apple's high standards for performance. A strong background in materials science and experimental mechanics is essential for success in this position.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or a related technical field.
  • A minimum of 10 years of relevant industry experience or equivalent.
  • Proven track record in experimental mechanics and material characterization.
  • Hands-on experience with advanced material and failure analysis techniques such as SEM, EDX, FIB, and CSAM.
  • Proficiency with numerical simulation software and programming capabilities in MATLAB and/or Scientific Python.
  • Familiarity with Gen-AI, Machine Learning, and statistical data analysis is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Drive the mechanical and material evaluation of cutting-edge Integrated Circuit (IC) packages.
  • Pioneer new characterization methodologies for packaging materials.
