Job description

The role is part of the Silicon Validation Team at Apple, focusing on silicon validation and debugging related to anomalous behaviors in system workloads. The team is responsible for validating Apple SoCs and ensuring their functionality across various conditions. You will work closely with functional test writers to understand the architecture of IP blocks and define validation plans. The position involves executing system tests, triaging issues, and collaborating with domain experts to analyze data and provide feedback.

Requirements

  • A minimum of a bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
  • A minimum of 3 years of relevant industry experience in silicon validation software engineering or a related field.
  • Experience with SoC bring up.
  • Experience with system debug.
  • Knowledge of computer architectures including cache, memory hierarchy, and data pipelines.
  • Experience with scripting languages such as Python, Perl, or Tcl.

Responsibilities

  • Execute system tests on prototype SoCs across various Process, Voltage, and Temperature corners.
  • Identify potential issues and characterize the functional voltage of SoCs under workloads.
  • Act as the first line of debugger to triage issues and isolate failures.
  • Collaborate with domain experts to define Design of Experiments and develop root cause theories.
  • Analyze data across voltage domains and provide feedback to product engineers regarding operation voltages.
  • Facilitate issue resolution by collaborating with downstream testing teams.

Benefits

  • Employees at Apple are often offered comprehensive benefits that support physical and mental well-being—flexible medical plans, confidential counseling, onsite wellness centers at major campuses, and resources for fitness and daily life. Families typically receive fertility support, paid parental leave with gradual return, caregiving leave, and dependent-care guidance, while financial perks commonly include stock grants (with purchase discounts), 401(k) matching, and income-protection coverage. Employees also see robust time off, Apple University learning and tuition reimbursement, donation matching and paid volunteer hours, and deep product and partner discounts.
