Job description

The Sensing Software team at Apple is looking for a Software Developer to drive the software development and architecture for next-generation Apple products. This role involves shaping application and system architectures across various platforms, including iOS and watchOS. The candidate will collaborate with hardware, algorithms, and product design teams to create robust platforms for novel sensing and research experiences. Strong technical leadership and the ability to influence technical direction are essential for success in this highly visible role.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent.
  • 10+ years of relevant experience in software development.
  • Experience leading, designing, and driving architecture for complex, multi-module applications or system software.
  • Deep knowledge of Apple's development frameworks and toolchains.
  • Strong grasp of scalability, reliability, power efficiency, and performance tuning for resource-constrained devices.

Responsibilities

  • Lead architectural efforts across current and future Apple sensing and research software platforms.
  • Partner with hardware, algorithms, and multi-functional engineering teams to define application and system software layers.
  • Drive architectural decisions and present clear technical strategies.
  • Mentor engineers and influence technical decisions across cross-functional partners.
  • Define clear architectural patterns and guide teams on implementation.

Benefits

  • Employees at Apple are often offered comprehensive benefits that support physical and mental well-being—flexible medical plans, confidential counseling, onsite wellness centers at major campuses, and resources for fitness and daily life. Families typically receive fertility support, paid parental leave with gradual return, caregiving leave, and dependent-care guidance, while financial perks commonly include stock grants (with purchase discounts), 401(k) matching, and income-protection coverage. Employees also see robust time off, Apple University learning and tuition reimbursement, donation matching and paid volunteer hours, and deep product and partner discounts.
