The Camera Hardware Engineering group at Apple is seeking a mechanical engineer specializing in Finite Element Analysis (FEA) to contribute to the design and development of innovative camera technologies. This role involves collaborating with design engineers to evaluate and optimize camera components, ensuring they meet performance requirements. The engineer will utilize simulation tools to guide the design process and provide insights based on FEA results. • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Applied Mechanics, Material Science, or a similar discipline with relevant experience.
• 3+ years of relevant industry experience.
• Simulation software experience using ANSYS, Abaqus, or relevant experience.
• Experience in material testing and failure analysis.
• Background in solid mechanics and materials science.
• Experience with explicit dynamics and thermal simulations.
• Experience in building and calibrating non-linear material models.
• Experience with electro-magnetic simulations and analysis of voice coil motors (VCM).
• Experience working with adhesive joints and analyzing adhesive failure modes.
• Knowledge of Python, Abaqus user subroutine development, and iSight.
• Experience with ANSYS Icepack and Maxwell, COMSOL, and ANSA.
• Experience in CAD modeling with NX or Solidworks.

• Perform Finite Element modeling and simulations using ABAQUS and other simulation software as required.
• Work day-to-day with design engineers on camera design evaluation, validation, and optimization.
• Interpret FEA results and provide physical explanations that identify root causes and possible solutions.
• Recommend design changes to meet product performance requirements.
• Participate in team brainstorming for new technology development.
• Develop new simulation techniques and expand capabilities as needed.
