- 5+ years of experience developing embedded firmware or kernel-mode drivers.
- Fluency in data structures and algorithms commonly used in an RTOS, implemented in C/C++ and assembly.
- Solid understanding of embedded system components such as CPUs, memory hierarchies, DMA, timers, interrupt control units, and interconnect buses.
- Deep knowledge of real-time operating system (RTOS) concepts such as thread/process scheduling and synchronization, exception handling, virtual memory management, and inter-process communication.
- Experience with low-level hardware components including Memory, DMA, Timer, GPIOs, UART, SPI, and I2C.
- Experience using Python for test automation, data analysis, and tool development.
Responsibilities
- Develop a range of low-level device drivers that directly control hardware components.
- Collaborate with hardware designers to understand and improve hardware/software interfaces.
- Document hardware/software interfaces for better clarity and usability.
- Utilize Python for test automation and firmware validation.
- Engage in pre-silicon bringup and validation on FPGA and emulation platforms.
- Conduct cycle-accurate modeling and performance analysis.
Benefits
- Employees at Apple are often offered comprehensive benefits that support physical and mental well-being—flexible medical plans, confidential counseling, onsite wellness centers at major campuses, and resources for fitness and daily life. Families typically receive fertility support, paid parental leave with gradual return, caregiving leave, and dependent-care guidance, while financial perks commonly include stock grants (with purchase discounts), 401(k) matching, and income-protection coverage. Employees also see robust time off, Apple University learning and tuition reimbursement, donation matching and paid volunteer hours, and deep product and partner discounts.
