Job description

In this role at Apple, you will be a CPU Top-Level Design Verification Engineer responsible for the verification methodology, tools, and flow of a high-performance lower power processor design. You will work closely with verification engineers and RTL designers to define effective verification methodologies. The position requires a strong understanding of processor design and involves developing test plans, test benches, and test environments. Your contributions will have a critical impact on delivering high-quality products to millions of customers quickly.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or Computer Engineering is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of computer architecture, including processor design and memory systems.
  • Experience creating efficient, synthesizable RTL code with knowledge of timing closure and power-aware design techniques.
  • Proficiency in SystemVerilog, including advanced features like interfaces and assertions.
  • Strong programming skills in C, C++, and Python for automation and tool development.
  • Analytical thinking and problem-solving skills for complex hardware design challenges.
  • Experience with build systems and maintaining verification infrastructure.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with verification engineers and RTL designers to define effective verification methodologies.
  • Develop test plans, test benches, and test environments for low power complex processor designs.
  • Drive and develop tools and flows for advanced verification methodologies.
  • Develop coverage monitors and analyze coverage to ensure all test cases are covered.
  • Run large-scale random regression suites and analyze test failures systematically.
  • Develop targeted tests to improve coverage metrics and achieve verification closure.

Benefits

  • Employees at Apple are often offered comprehensive benefits that support physical and mental well-being—flexible medical plans, confidential counseling, onsite wellness centers at major campuses, and resources for fitness and daily life. Families typically receive fertility support, paid parental leave with gradual return, caregiving leave, and dependent-care guidance, while financial perks commonly include stock grants (with purchase discounts), 401(k) matching, and income-protection coverage.
