Job description
The role of a system product design engineer at Apple involves taking ownership of modules and subsystems within the Apple Vision Pro product. The Vision Product Group is focused on designing, prototyping, and launching innovative products that blend digital content with physical spaces. This position requires collaboration with various engineering disciplines and external suppliers to ensure product reliability and performance. The engineer will also be responsible for developing validation plans and custom test fixtures to support product design.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Mechatronics, Robotics Engineering or similar.
- 6+ years of hands-on, detailed product design or mechanisms design experience.
- Strong design and analysis skills including CAD design, FEA analysis, GD&T, tolerance analysis, and DFM.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Master's degree in mechanical engineering or similar field is preferred.
- Fluent in Unigraphics NX and statistical software (JMP).
Responsibilities
- Take ownership of a module or subsystem within the product.
- Analyze, assemble, and ensure the reliability of product parts.
- Develop and execute validation plans for product designs.
- Design custom test fixtures to validate designs.
- Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams including Electrical Engineering, Reliability, and Industrial Design.
- Work through DFM challenges with external vendors.
- Conceptualize, design, and build test fixtures for validation.
- Take designs through the entire product development cycle from concept to production.
