Job description

Apple is seeking a senior tools engineer to develop applications, pipelines, and creative workflows that enhance AI systems. The role involves creating interactive data visualization tools, content creation utilities, and user-study data collection systems. The team operates at the intersection of hardware, software, and intelligence, focusing on building end-to-end solutions that integrate seamlessly into Apple's ecosystem. This hands-on position requires collaboration with various teams to shape the future of AI-driven experiences across devices and platforms.

Requirements

  • Proven experience developing high-quality tools with intuitive workflows for technical or creative professionals.
  • Proficiency in Swift, SwiftUI, Objective-C, or C++, with strong experience developing for macOS and iOS.
  • Experience developing software in Python, including scripting, pipelines, or backend integrations.
  • Experience working with 3D content creation tools or environments such as Maya, Unity, or Unreal.
  • Understanding of system architecture, including multi-device workflows and real-time data handling.
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or related technical field, and 5+ years of industry experience.

Responsibilities

  • Develop software that empowers Apple teams to understand complex, multi-modal data.
  • Prototype intelligent behaviors and craft delightful user experiences.
  • Collaborate closely with hardware, robotics, ML, design, and platform teams.
  • Design modular, maintainable architectures and decompose complex requirements into practical features.
  • Build annotation tools, labeling systems, or user-study data pipelines.

Benefits

  • Employees at Apple are often offered comprehensive benefits that support physical and mental well-being—flexible medical plans, confidential counseling, onsite wellness centers at major campuses, and resources for fitness and daily life. Families typically receive fertility support, paid parental leave with gradual return, caregiving leave, and dependent-care guidance, while financial perks commonly include stock grants (with purchase discounts), 401(k) matching, and income-protection coverage. Employees also see robust time off, Apple University learning and tuition reimbursement, donation matching and paid volunteer hours, and deep product and partner discounts.
