Job description
The Haptic Engineering team at Apple is focused on developing innovative haptic solutions for products like the iPhone and Apple Watch. The role of Product Design / Mechanical Design Engineer involves leading the design, development, and validation of next-generation haptic actuators. Requirements
- Minimum requirement of a bachelor's degree
- Experience with 3D CAD, 2D drafting, GD&T, and tolerance analysis
- Strong fundamentals in mechanics
- Skilled at problem-solving using tools like the scientific method, root cause analysis, and DOE creation
- Proficient with mechanical or electromagnetic FEA tools
- Applied knowledge of electrical circuits, material science, and basic chemistry
- Team oriented with excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Project experience in consumer electronics products design
- Design and/or research experience with haptic technologies
- Experience in the design and application of electromagnetic actuators
- Expert knowledge of electro-mechanics and dynamics
- Proficiency with data analysis tools such as JMP, MATLAB, and Excel
- High volume mass production experience
Responsibilities
- Lead the design and development of next-generation haptic actuators
- Validate haptic experiences through rigorous testing and analysis
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate mechanical designs
- Manage the end-to-end mechanical design process from concept to production
- Work with vendors to ensure successful implementation of designs
