Job description

The TechOps Engineer role at Apple focuses on maintaining the reliability and performance of globally distributed systems within the Customer Systems Operations team. This position requires a blend of strong software engineering skills and a passion for operational excellence. The ideal candidate will work closely with support, engineering, and business operations teams to design and develop automation solutions. The role emphasizes continuous improvement and effective incident response in a fast-paced environment.

Requirements

  • B.S in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or similar or equivalent related work experience.
  • Experience in scripting languages and automation tools such as Java, JEE, REST, Swift/Objective C.
  • Understanding of standard networking protocols and components such as HTTP, DNS, TCP/IP, ICMP.
  • Experience in using AI and Large Language Models (LLMs) to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Fundamental understanding of distributed systems including Micro services, Messaging Brokers, and Versioning.
  • Excellent organizational and documentation skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

  • Manage large-scale production outages and lead incident response efforts.
  • Design, build, and maintain automation solutions for monitoring and management of distributed systems.
  • Develop tools and software to automate repetitive operational tasks and improve system reliability.
  • Plan and execute system health monitoring and incident response across global applications.
  • Create and maintain accurate documentation reflecting architecture and procedures.
  • Partner with multi-functional teams to improve reliability and efficiency.
  • Drive operational metrics and KPI identification and alignment.
