Job description

The Senior Data Scientist role at Google focuses on enhancing the Core Ranking and AI Context Engineering team. This team is integral to the development of Google's key products, including Search and AI features. The position involves solving complex problems through data analysis and statistical methods, while collaborating closely with engineers and product managers. The goal is to drive improvements in Google's search products and elevate user experience.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Statistics, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Economics, Operations Research, Engineering, or a related quantitative field.
  • 5 years of work experience using analytics to solve product or business problems, coding in Python, R, or SQL, or 3 years of work experience with a PhD degree.
  • 8 years of experience using analytics to solve product or business problems, coding in Python, R, or SQL, or 6 years of experience with a PhD degree is preferred.
  • Experience working on a consumer-facing product or quality evaluations.
  • Experience with experimental design and analysis, survey design, evaluation methodologies, statistical modeling, and machine learning algorithms.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with engineers and product managers to identify quality and metric headrooms.
  • Conduct rigorous analyses of large-scale datasets and apply statistical/AI methods to solve complex problems.
  • Present actionable insights and recommendations to stakeholders.
  • Develop evaluations and measurements to guide iterative improvements and automate these processes in collaboration with engineering and product teams.
  • Act as an integrated partner to drive system changes and product launches.
