The Mechanical Manufacturing Engineer will be part of the Advanced and Operations Engineering Organization at Google, focusing on the design, development, and manufacturing of data center server and rack products. This role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to optimize manufacturing processes and ensure technical excellence. The engineer will contribute to impactful projects that shape the future of hardware experiences, delivering high performance and efficiency. The position requires expertise in mechanical design and manufacturing processes for electro-mechanical assemblies.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering or equivalent practical experience.
- 5 years of experience assembling electro-mechanical products such as compute, network, or storage racks.
- Experience with fabrication processes including NCT sheet metal, metal stamping, injection molding, die casting, CNC, welding, and press brake forming.
- Proficiency in mechanical design of electro-mechanical assemblies and fixtures using 3D CAD tools like Creo or SolidWorks.
- Experience with bill of materials creation using Product Data Management systems and DFMEA/PFMEA.
Responsibilities
- Review designs using design for manufacturing and assembly fundamentals to develop manufacturable and scalable products.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement cost-effective designs and manufacturing processes.
- Participate in supplier technical evaluations and product qualification planning.
- Work with the Product Data Management team to create, review, and approve bill of materials and engineering change orders.
