Job description

The Senior Network Engineer role at Google focuses on operating and enhancing the network that serves millions of users globally. As part of the Network Engineering team, you will be responsible for ensuring network reliability and efficiency while addressing challenges with innovative solutions. The position involves collaborating with various engineering teams to improve network systems and processes. You will also play a key role in the design and implementation of new networking products and technologies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 6 years of experience with network routing protocols, design, and troubleshooting with network equipment providers.
  • Experience with planning and designing networks across multiple sites and products.
  • Experience in one or more programming languages such as C++, Go, or Python is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Drive innovation and develop designs for new networking product ideas and process improvements.
  • Own the analysis of measurements and capacity forecast models to enhance network scalability and efficiency.
  • Evaluate current inefficiencies in network systems and propose designs and processes for improvement.
  • Lead the entire life cycle of a network, including design, deployment, operation, and optimization.
  • Collaborate with other engineering teams to resolve software, hardware, and network system problems.
