Job description

The Modular Data Center Product Engineer, Delivery role at Google focuses on driving the design and integration of high-density, modular data center products. This position is part of the Data Center Engineering team, which is dedicated to innovating the physical design of data centers. The engineer will work on optimizing efficiencies and ensuring compliance with codes and standards while collaborating with various teams. The role requires a visionary approach to transform complex engineering concepts into manufacturable designs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • 3 years of experience in facility design and construction environments.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license is preferred.
  • Master's degree in Electrical, Structural, Mechanical, Systems and Manufacturing Engineering is preferred.
  • 7 years of experience developing modular data center products is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Engineer high-performance steel enclosures to optimize module layouts for power distribution, server racks, and cooling infrastructure.
  • Develop comprehensive electrical infrastructure and integrate mechanical and control systems to eliminate spatial or functional conflicts.
  • Perform structural analysis for transport and installation integrity while leading cooling solution implementation through advanced Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) modeling.
  • Translate complex concepts into manufacturable designs and produce precision deliverables, such as single-line diagrams and electrical schematics.
  • Direct prototype development, oversee factory witness testing and commissioning, and ensure compliance with UL and NFPA standards.
