Job description

The Staff Software Engineer role at Google focuses on developing technologies for Google's global networking infrastructure. The WANForms team is responsible for creating building blocks for Wide Area Network (WAN) products, ensuring seamless integration with Google's control and management systems. Engineers in this role will work on large-scale infrastructure and distributed systems while collaborating with cross-functional partners. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8 years of experience building and developing large-scale infrastructure, distributed systems, or networks.
  • Experience with compute technologies, storage, or hardware architecture.
  • 3 years of experience in a technical leadership role leading project teams and setting technical direction.

Responsibilities

  • Be the Subject Matter Expert on end-to-end solutions of Google services interacting with vendor features for WAN Networking products.
  • Lead the technical design and development of infrastructure for testing in virtual and physical environments that are scalable, reliable, and maintainable.
  • Drive the adoption of novel network applications that significantly optimize Google's network performance.
  • Collaborate closely with senior leaders and cross-functional partners to gather requirements and deliver high-quality solutions.
