JobsAnalog Layout Automation Engineer
Job description
Join Apple's Silicon Engineering Group as an Analog Layout Automation Engineer, where you will play a crucial role in the development of next-generation systems-on-chip (SOCs) for iconic devices. You will focus on the evolution of Analog/Mixed-Signal circuits, utilizing automation and AI/ML techniques to enhance design efficiency. Collaborating with circuit designers, you will convert design concepts into silicon using advanced CAD tools. This position emphasizes driving automation and improving workflows to optimize layout processes.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 10 years of relevant industry experience.
- Experience designing analog and mixed-signal layouts in deep-submicron CMOS and FinFET technologies.
- Strong programming/scripting skills in SKILL, Perl, TCL, Shell, and/or Python.
- Solid understanding of supervised and self-supervised learning and convolutional neural networks.
- Hands-on experience with PyTorch for model development and experimentation.
- Proven record in implementing high-quality analog layouts with tight device matching, low noise, and low power consumption.
- Familiarity with failure-prone circuit/layout structures and analog best practices.
- Strong proficiency in custom and standard-cell floor planning and physical integration.
- Technical understanding of IR drop, RC delay, electromigration, and related reliability concerns.
- Experience using advanced Cadence Virtuoso features and familiarity with Cadence Innovus.
Responsibilities
- Convert design concepts into silicon by collaborating with circuit designers.
- Review floor plans and analyze circuits to ensure design integrity.
- Run verification suites and resolve LVS/DRC/ERC issues.
- Drive automation by developing scripts and improving workflows.
- Apply AI/ML techniques for layout optimization and verification acceleration.
- Interpret physical verification reports, including DRC, ERC, and LVS.
- Automate layout tasks, flows, and quality checks using scripting and CAD tools.
Benefits
- Employees at Apple are often offered comprehensive benefits that support physical and mental well-being—flexible medical plans, confidential counseling, onsite wellness centers at major campuses, and resources for fitness and daily life. Families typically receive fertility support, paid parental leave with gradual return, caregiving leave, and dependent-care guidance, while financial perks commonly include stock grants (with purchase discounts), 401(k) matching, and income-protection coverage. Employees also see robust time off, Apple University learning and tuition reimbursement, donation matching and paid volunteer hours, and deep product and partner discounts.
