JobsCPU Microarchitect/RTL Engineer
Job description
Apple's Silicon Engineering Group is seeking dedicated engineers for CPU architecture and microarchitecture development aimed at low power mobile devices. The team focuses on designing high-performance, low power microprocessors that power innovative products like the iPhone and iPad. As an RTL Engineer, you will be involved in microarchitecture development, RTL feature ownership, and validation processes. This role emphasizes collaboration with multifunctional engineering teams to ensure the successful implementation and validation of designs.
Requirements
- Minimum Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
- Experience with either Verilog or VHDL.
- Experience with microprocessor architecture.
- Experience with simulators and waveform debugging tools such as Verdi.
- Knowledge of logic design principles.
- Understanding of timing, power, and area tradeoffs in CPU microarchitecture.
- Understanding of low power and high performance microarchitecture techniques.
- Experience using an interpretive language such as Perl or Python.
Responsibilities
- Participate in microarchitecture development and specification from high-level exploration to detailed specification.
- Own the development, assessment, and refinement of new RTL features targeting power, performance, area, and timing goals.
- Support test bench development and simulation for functional and performance verification.
- Explore high performance strategies and validate that the RTL design meets targeted performance.
- Collaborate with multifunctional engineering teams to implement and validate physical design aspects such as timing, area, reliability, testability, and power.
Benefits
- Employees at Apple are often offered comprehensive benefits that support physical and mental well-being—flexible medical plans, confidential counseling, onsite wellness centers at major campuses, and resources for fitness and daily life. Families typically receive fertility support, paid parental leave with gradual return, caregiving leave, and dependent-care guidance, while financial perks commonly include stock grants (with purchase discounts), 401(k) matching, and income-protection coverage. Employees also see robust time off, Apple University learning and tuition reimbursement, donation matching and paid volunteer hours, and deep product and partner discounts.
