Job description

The Data Protection team at Apple is seeking a motivated software engineer to enhance user data confidentiality through advanced storage encryption and device unlock mechanisms. This role involves contributing to the security foundations of Apple's operating systems across various products, including Mac, iPhone, and iPad. The engineer will tackle complex engineering challenges and collaborate with multiple teams to ensure robust security while maintaining user experience. The position offers the opportunity to significantly impact the design and implementation of Apple's embedded and desktop operating systems.

Requirements

  • Excellent C and systems programming skills
  • Strong understanding of operating systems internals
  • Industry exposure to and knowledge of OS security and applied cryptography
  • Ability to deliver solid work on tight schedules
  • Excellent teamwork skills
  • Understanding of past, current, and emerging security exploits
  • iOS and macOS exposure as an end user, administrator, or developer
  • Experience in kernel programming
  • Knowledge of hypervisor design and architecture
  • Involvement in open source technologies and development communities such as FreeBSD and Linux
