The Security Engineer, Cloud Threat and Abuse Detection role at Google focuses on creating and maintaining a secure operating environment for users and developers. The position is part of the Cloud CISO Security Engineering team, which is responsible for ensuring the security of Google Cloud products and infrastructure. This role involves working with network equipment, monitoring systems for attacks, and collaborating with software engineers to identify and fix security vulnerabilities. The engineer will also engage in threat detection and response to protect Google and its users from malicious activities.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
- 2 years of experience with security assessments or security design reviews or threat modeling.
- 2 years of experience with security engineering, computer and network security, and security protocols.
- 2 years of experience with coding in one or more general purpose languages.
Responsibilities
- Research new detection techniques to prevent and mitigate abusive activities such as outbound security attacks and DDoS.
- Develop high fidelity detection to identify malicious activity based on raw network and host level telemetry.
- Analyze various logs and packets to increase the accuracy of detections.
- Hunt for threats and abusers and respond proactively.
- Create, develop, and manage tools to collect and process abuse reports and threat intelligence data.
