Job description
Join Apple's Wireless Connectivity Silicon team as an Embedded Firmware Engineer, where you will play a crucial role in developing firmware for System on a Chip (SoC) products. This position focuses on PHY bring up, RF calibrations, and signal processing algorithm implementation. You will collaborate with various engineering teams to ensure the successful productization of wireless silicon. Your work will directly impact the delivery of functional wireless products to millions of customers.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
- Strong background in embedded firmware development using C and assembly languages.
- Familiarity with ARM CPUs and their internals.
- Good understanding of embedded wireless communication systems and key RF performance metrics.
- Experience with low-level hardware interfaces and bare-metal software development.
- Fluency in using lab equipment such as logic analyzers and oscilloscopes.
- Proficient in at least one scripting language such as Python, Perl, or Tcl.
Responsibilities
- Craft and implement embedded firmware for SoC bring up and wireless connectivity enablement.
- Work closely with product software and manufacturing teams to provide system-level API and firmware functionality.
- Develop SoC test and calibration capabilities for wafer, module, and system factories.
- Collaborate with RF/Radio design, DVT, PHY, and System engineering teams to define and implement algorithms and protocols.
- Debug real-time systems with limited visibility using development boards and lab equipment.
- Support pre-silicon validation efforts, including simulation and FPGA prototyping.
- Support post-silicon bring up, validation, and performance characterization.
