JobsCPU Implementation Engineer
Job description
Apple's Silicon Engineering Group is seeking dedicated CPU Implementation Engineers to contribute to the design and implementation of CPU block-level architectures. The role involves collaborating with micro-architects to define memory subsystems and drive the RTL-to-GDS flow. Engineers will work within a multi-functional team to ensure the physical design meets targets for timing, area, reliability, and power. This position offers the opportunity to be part of a team that is at the forefront of innovation in hardware engineering.
Requirements
- Minimum Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
- Academic coursework or industry experience in VLSI and/or digital circuit design.
- Experience with scripting in Perl or TCL.
- Familiarity with high performance microprocessor architecture.
- Knowledge of logic design principles along with timing and power implications.
- Understanding of low power microarchitecture and implementation techniques.
- Design exposure in deep sub-micron technologies and device physics.
- Experience using synthesis and place-route tools.
Responsibilities
- Work with micro-architects to define the memory subsystem and perform feasibility studies.
- Make area, frequency, performance, and power trade-offs while designing and balancing pipeline stages.
- Drive the RTL-to-GDS flow through synthesis and place-and-route processes.
- Collaborate with a multi-functional engineering team to implement and validate physical design aspects.
- Ensure design delivery meets targets for timing, area, reliability, testability, and power.
Benefits
- Employees at Apple are often offered comprehensive benefits that support physical and mental well-being—flexible medical plans, confidential counseling, onsite wellness centers at major campuses, and resources for fitness and daily life. Families typically receive fertility support, paid parental leave with gradual return, caregiving leave, and dependent-care guidance, while financial perks commonly include stock grants (with purchase discounts), 401(k) matching, and income-protection coverage. Employees also see robust time off, Apple University learning and tuition reimbursement, donation matching and paid volunteer hours, and deep product and partner discounts.
