The Answers, Knowledge & Information team at Apple is seeking a senior Machine Learning Engineer to enhance intelligent search applications. This role focuses on researching and implementing advanced machine learning techniques, particularly in Natural Language Processing and response generation. • 4+ years of experience in Machine Learning and NLP applied at scale.
• Strong software engineering skills in programming languages such as Python, Go, or C/C++.
• In-depth knowledge of Deep Learning models and Large Language Models.
• Experience in building production quality systems in search or information retrieval.
• Familiarity with ML frameworks like PyTorch, JAX, TensorFlow, or XGBoost.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent industry experience.

• Contribute to the research, design, implementation, and evaluation of algorithms for response generation models.
• Use advanced NLP and deep learning techniques to generate responses based on user intent.
• Analyze loss patterns in search systems and propose algorithms to improve quality metrics.
• Develop a long-term technical vision and roadmap for the team.
• Collaborate with teams across the company to define product requirements and prioritize ranking criteria.
• Establish metrics and continuously improve model performance using innovative ML techniques.
