Job description

The SPEAR team at Apple is seeking a collaborative software quality assurance engineer dedicated to ensuring the quality of software security features. This team focuses on security hardening across all of Apple's operating systems, developing impactful features that require rigorous testing. The role involves working closely with software engineers and project managers to deliver high-quality operating systems and features. The engineer will play a key role in exceeding expectations for feature quality across Apple's platforms.

Requirements

  • Experience writing code in Objective C, Swift, or Python to test an API, SDK, or Frameworks.
  • Experience writing and triaging automated software tests such as unit-tests, regression tests, functional tests, and stress tests.
  • Experience in developing comprehensive test plans, assessing risk, filing appropriate bugs, and consolidating bug reports.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively about technical topics both verbally and in writing.
  • Demonstrates the highest standards of professional integrity and ethical conduct.
  • Experience in driving development and deployment of relevant testing tools and infrastructure.
  • Familiarity with XCTest and Xcode.
  • Ability to triage problems, prioritize accordingly, and propose a resolution.
  • Ability to work independently, raise issues, and take corrective action.
  • A keen eye for detail and a passion for understanding how systems work and ensuring their quality and reliability.

Responsibilities

  • Work in a multi-functional team responsible for projects such as system applications, frameworks, and services.
  • Collaborate closely with software engineers, project managers, and other Apple quality teams.
  • Ensure that Apple delivers the next generation of its operating systems and features with the highest security and quality.
  • Develop and execute rigorous test development to ensure clean and successful feature implementation.
  • Assess risks and file appropriate bugs to maintain high standards of software quality.
