Job description

The Wireless Software Performance team is seeking an experienced engineer to lead the characterization of wireless software performance for cellular technologies. This role involves collaborating across departments to enhance customer experiences with Apple products and services. The engineer will develop expertise in cellular systems and act as a liaison between technology and product engineering teams. The focus is on driving innovative solutions that leverage cellular technologies to create new services and products.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's and/or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • 3+ years of experience working in a laboratory environment, testing and benchmarking data, voice and application performance of cellular systems.
  • Deep understanding of cellular 3GPP standards relating to 5G NR and LTE.
  • Demonstrated experience with higher-layer protocols such as TCP/IP.
  • Strong ability to debug and analyze issues across all layers of the protocol stack, as well as RF frontends.
  • Experience with proposing software optimizations and improvements based on performance data.
  • Experience working with cellular call boxes and channel emulators in a laboratory setting.
  • Strong knowledge of Python scripting to automate performance test suites.

  • Interact cross-functionally with multiple engineering groups.
