This role is for a Digital Layout Designer within Apple's Digital Design Engineering group, focusing on creating custom digital macros and libraries for state-of-the-art ASICs. Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field of study
- 3 years of relevant experience in custom layout design of deep SubMicron CMOS circuits
- High level proficiency in layout floorplanning, standard cell planning, and hierarchical layout assembly
- Good understanding of issues with RC delay, electromigration, self-heating, and cross capacitance
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work with multi-functional teams
- Knowledge of MENTOR GRAPHICS or CADENCE layout tools
Responsibilities
- Design complex custom layouts for digital circuits in deep SubMicron CMOS technologies
- Review and analyze floorplans and complex circuits with circuit designers
- Run a complete set of layout design verification tools on megacells
- Work with the circuit design team to plan, schedule work, and negotiate layout tradeoffs
- Interpret LVS, DRC, and ERC reports to optimize layout completion
- Exceed engineering specifications and expectations
- Use advanced CAD tools and mask design knowledge for layout corrections
