Job description
Apple is seeking a Site Reliability Engineer to enhance the performance and availability of core backend services across various applications including News, Stocks, Weather, and Books. This role emphasizes the importance of reliability as a feature and involves shaping the observability strategy while mentoring incident management. The SRE will also focus on automation and refining the 'Golden Signals' to maintain a world-class Kubernetes ecosystem. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in managing high-traffic production environments.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in SRE, DevOps, or Infrastructure roles.
- Deep experience with Kubernetes and container orchestration systems.
- Expert knowledge of the 4 Golden Signals: Latency, Traffic, Errors, and Saturation.
- Hands-on experience with public cloud providers such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.
- Strong scripting skills in Python or Go.
- Experience leading incident response and performing Root Cause Analysis.
- Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code tools like Terraform or CloudFormation.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Specialized experience with Solr or Elasticsearch.
- Strong understanding of TCP/IP and Load Balancing.

- Refine the 'Golden Signals' for monitoring system health.
- Troubleshoot issues from the networking layer to application pods.
- Design and maintain resilient infrastructure on public cloud platforms.
- Lead incident response efforts and implement blameless post-mortems.
- Manage immutable infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code.
