Apple's Audio and Media Technologies Group is seeking a creative software engineer to join the Streaming Media Formats & Tools Team. This team focuses on developing technology for media playback across all Apple platforms and enhancing content publishing workflows. The role involves designing and supporting next-generation audio/visual media formats while collaborating with cross-functional teams. • Strong software development experience in C / C++.
• Full software development life cycle experience, including coding standards and code reviews.
• Knowledge of streaming protocols such as HLS and DASH.
• Solid understanding of media file formats including ISO base media file format and CMAF.
• Outstanding analytical, programming, and debugging skills.
• Strong foundations in Data Structures and Algorithms.
• Proficient with multi-threaded development and synchronization primitives.
• BS or MS in Computer Science or Computer Engineering or equivalent.
• Familiarity with content publishing and packaging is a big plus.
• Proficiency with video codecs such as H.264, HEVC, and AV1.
• Experience with AI-assisted C/C++ code development.
• Knowledge of existing audio, visual, and caption format standards.
• Experience in developing format writers and parsers.

• Support existing and new media formats across all Apple platforms.
• Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to ensure end-to-end bringup of new streaming features.
• Develop a native reference iOS application showcasing HLS features and best practices.
• Support live stream monitoring and content publishing workflow with validation tools.
• Assist in real-time analysis and triage of content.
• Build robust content protection and encryption support for various DRM systems.
• Enhance tools to support sophisticated audio/video sync detection techniques and performance monitoring.
