Job description

The Research Engineer in Reasoning & Memory Systems will work within the System Intelligence and Machine Learning Content Understanding teams at Apple. This role focuses on advancing Apple Intelligence capabilities through algorithm development and collaboration with hardware engineering, design, and product teams. The engineer will engage in projects related to operating system-wide embeddings and personalized RAG workstreams. The position offers opportunities to prototype and incorporate innovative algorithms while addressing robustness challenges in model alignment.

Requirements

  • PhD or MSc in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field with a focus on machine learning.
  • Strong fundamentals in machine learning and generative modeling.
  • Proven experience in reinforcement learning, multimodal training, or pre-training/post-training foundation models.
  • Proficiency in using ML toolkits such as PyTorch.
  • A track record of research contributions through publications in top-tier conferences or open source contributions.
  • Experience with building and deploying multimodal large language models.
  • Familiarity with distributed training and large-scale data infrastructure.
