Job description
The CPU Implementation Lead Engineer role at Apple involves leading the CPU Implementation leadership team within the Silicon Engineering Group. This position focuses on CPU IP delivery and requires collaboration with multi-functional engineering teams to ensure successful physical design implementation. The role also emphasizes mentoring junior engineers and enhancing the RTL-to-GDS flow for optimal power, performance, and area. Candidates should possess extensive experience in chip implementation and a strong understanding of microprocessor architecture.
Requirements
- Minimum BS degree and 10+ years of relevant industry experience
- Experience in driving chip implementation from definition phase to silicon correlation
- Experience working with cross-functional teams spanning technology, architecture, RTL, and physical design
- Experience in synthesis and place-and-route
- Familiarity with high performance microprocessor architecture fundamentals
- Knowledge of logic design principles along with timing and power implications
- Understanding of low power microarchitecture and implementation techniques
- Experience with scripting in Perl and/or TCL
- Design experience in deep submicron technologies and basic transistor level design and device physics
Responsibilities
- Own or participate in CPU IP delivery
- Work with multi-functional engineering teams to implement and validate physical design aspects
- Collaborate with the partition implementation team to optimize area, frequency, performance, and power tradeoffs
- Participate in the definition and enhancement of RTL-to-GDS flow through synthesis and place-and-route
- Mentor junior engineers
