Job description

Core Motion is seeking an experienced motion scientist to develop Apple's next-generation motion features and experiences using multi-modal sensing. This role offers the opportunity to work on innovative motion features that span hardware and user experience. The ideal candidate will take designs through the full product life-cycle, from concept to launch, while addressing complex technical challenges. The position emphasizes initiative and responsibility in a collaborative environment.

Requirements

  • MS, PhD, or 5+ years of experience in mechanical engineering, computer science, or related disciplines.
  • A proven track record of developing impactful features and delivering tasks on schedule.
  • Strong product focus with the ability to provide creative solutions that balance technical complexity and user experience.
  • Experience developing for embedded or real-time systems in C/C++.
  • Deep technical knowledge of signal processing, motion estimation, and system modeling.
  • Experience with data-driven algorithm development using machine learning approaches.
  • Experience developing interfaces between algorithms, software, and firmware.
  • Experience with multi-modal algorithms, including IMU, images, video, and/or audio.

Responsibilities

  • Evolve and realize the technical vision for CoreMotion while aligning with partner teams.
  • Provide clear technical communication and guidance for the team and leadership.
  • Develop and deploy state-of-the-art motion features for low-power, embedded systems.

Benefits

  • Employees at Apple are often offered comprehensive benefits that support physical and mental well-being—flexible medical plans, confidential counseling, onsite wellness centers at major campuses, and resources for fitness and daily life. Families typically receive fertility support, paid parental leave with gradual return, caregiving leave, and dependent-care guidance, while financial perks commonly include stock grants (with purchase discounts), 401(k) matching, and income-protection coverage. Employees also see robust time off, Apple University learning and tuition reimbursement, donation matching and paid volunteer hours, and deep product and partner discounts.
